3 Simple Tools To Help When You Have Negative Thoughts Or Are Feeling Anxious


Here are some tips and tools that you can use for yourself if you're having negative thoughts are you feeling a bit anxious.

Ask Yourself “Is It True?”

This is a question that you can try for yourself so when you're having negative thoughts and it’s weighing you down. Take a moment to challenge your thoughts, ask yourself “Is it true?” Is it true that… you are not good enough, or smart enough, or that you can’t have it but other people can? Chances are is that your answer will be no. Just because we have a thought in our head, it doesn’t mean that it’s a reality for you.


Often times when we worry and feel anxious it is because we are worrying about the future. Focusing on our breathing can help bring us back into the present. When you are feeling anxious, take a pause and focus on your breathing. Feeling the air entering your nose and filling your lungs and how it warms up as it leaves your body. Do this for 5 breaths, and then see if you can do 5 more. Repeat this process to help yourself be fully present and focusing on the now.

What’s the best thing that I can do for myself right now?

What is the best thing that you can do for yourself in that moment? is it just taking a break and going out for a walk or run? Is it just getting some sunshine? Is it getting a massage? Is it ringing up a friend and just having a chat to them? You will intuitively know what’s best for you.
